Grand-Saconnex Residence

Developed in close collaboration with Geneva’s Services des monuments et sites , this project adapts a house by the Genevan architect Paul Waltenspühl (1954) for contemporary family life. The chosen strategy encloses the current entryway in glass to create a future living room and transforms the current living room into a winter garden.  By layering envelopes with varying energy performance, this approach eliminates the need to alter the original joinery of the sliding doors. Extending the existing house, a new semi-buried volume shelters play spaces for the children and two guest bedrooms opening onto a sunken garden space.
